re: Willie Norris

WILLIE NORRIS is an American fashion designer with a thing for words. Described by The New York Times as a “master of bringing together," she approaches fashion with a laser-focused technical eye, making work that brings utility, pleasure, community, and poetry to getting dressed.
She is the founder and creative director of WILLIENORRISREWORKSHOP, which she founded in 2018 as a container for the creative practice and projects of herself and her varied roster of collaborators and clients, which have included Helmut Lang, AWAY,  MoMAPS1, Le Tigre and Planned Parenthood of Greater New York.
Her work has been worn by prominent models Ashley Graham, Lauren Chan, Geena Rocero and Aaron Philip, comedians Bowen Yang, Jaboukie, Hasan Minhaj and Mary Beth Barone, prominent queer creatives Hunter Abrams, West Dakota, Kimberly Drew and Philip Picardi, fashion designer Christopher John Rogers and musicians Troye Sivan, L'Rain and BbyMutha.
She is the acting Design Director for American ready-to-wear brand Outlier, where she approaches functional menswear with poetic fantasy. At Outlier, Willie is expanding the legacy of utilitarian precision and fabrication-obsession that founders Abe Burmeister and Tyler Clemens began when they launched the brand in 2008.
Prior to Outlier, she worked on the design teams of Zero + Maria Cornejo and Isaac Mizrahi, and interned with Susan Cianciolo and Camilla Staerk.
