JOAN JETT BLAKK FUNDRAISER SHORT-SLEEVE T-SHIRT
WILLIE NORRIS WORKSHOP and LEGENDS OF DRAG present a limited edition short-sleeve t-shirt to raise funds for the continued medical care of queer legend Joan Jett Blakk.
The front features a portrait by Marc Geller, and one of her slogans adorns the back: A VOTE FOR JOAN JETT BLAKK IS A VOTE FOR TOTAL ANARCHY.
Few living queer elders hold as much of our vital history as Joan Jett Blakk. Her militancy stretches back 50 years — to the Gay Liberation Front in Detroit and the first Radical Faerie gatherings in the Midwest, as a founder of Queer Nation in Chicago, and through ACT UP in San Francisco. Her life weaves together the vanguards of the queer movement, Black liberation, punk, drag, and a searing mockery of the dead ends of the electoral system. Joan’s story is the subject of the 2019 play Ms. Blakk for President, as well as the 2021 documentary The Beauty President.
Joan made history in 1992 as the first drag queen to run for President, as a Queer Nation candidate. She says of her campaign: “We wanted to stir up as much trouble as possible.” Now, this queer visionary needs our support. Joan experienced a major stroke in 2024 and will require lifelong care.
The shirt is available for 30 days, 12/4/2025–1/4/2026. All proceeds will go directly toward Joan’s medical care, storage unit costs, and outings from her rehabilitation facility. Direct contributions to Joan’s GoFundMe can also be made here.

The t-shirt has a relaxed, unisex fit with that just-right, structured-yet-breathable weight. Garment-dyed for a perfectly worn-in softness from day one. The neck and shoulders are reinforced with twill tape to help keep their shape, and the hems are double-stitched for durability. It’s a good one, as far as t-shirts go. I recommend washing cold, with the shirt turned inside out; avoid bleach and harsh cleaners; and tumble dry low or hang dry. Fits true to size.
